GSF Launches New Flag-ship Line of Heavy Duty Slides

After months of planning, GSF are delighted to announce the launch of their own range of Heavy Duty, shock resistant slides to replace their old discontinued line.  GSF’s HD range centres on precision, price and performance and replaces the older, less cost effective heavy-duty slides without compromising on quality or weight distribution. 

Managing Director Jon Lye explains:  “We’ve known for sometime that our old line of slides were in many ways restrictive in terms of capacity, profile and price and that for a new partnership to work we would need to find an operator who can deliver a fantastic product at the right price, but who also shares our commitment for excellence.  GSF’s new range of HD Slides have been extensively used for many years in Europe, including Germany, where engineering standards are uncompromising.  The announcement of our new working partnership will firmly position GSF as the leading manufacturer and supplier of sliding systems in the UK, making us better placed than ever before to respond to our customers’ needs directly and efficiently.”

GSF’s announcement, early this week, is decisive in that it closes the gap between manufacturer and end user by ensuring supply security and a marked reduction in the cost of the HD range of slides.  “We’ve been very careful that the new range should meet, and indeed exceed, the discontinued range in every respect, including better load capacity on lower width profiles,” said Mr. Lye.

In addition GSF’s collaboration offers vehicle builders a broader range of products, Jon Lye confirms:  “Up until now our old range of heavy duty 4 beam slides were a luxury item.  We’ve changed that; GSF’s new HD/QS-70 can provide 150% extension at 50% less cost than the old E1904.  At 550mm the slide gives an extra 40kg of load capacity within a smaller space envelope.  Heavy-duty pumps and generators can now be extended from the vehicles for complete access.  The new HD/QS range can also be used with a reduced 100% extension to increase the load without specifying and stocking alternative products.”

Entirely manufactured from cold drawn steel profile with extensive after machining, the new HD slides have much more reliable action and precise movement without the usual costs associated with a hardened raceway product.  Less well-made products, which have little or no machining after the drawing process, lead to inconsistency of ball track and the malfunctioning of the slide.  To overcome this, slides are fitted loosely, but this leads to a reduction in load capacity and an increase in deflection.  GSF’s new HD range means that from now on there’s no need to fit the slides loosely to take up poor manufacturing tolerances.

“Whilst GSF currently offers the T-Race range of heavy duty precision engineered slides,” adds Jon, “these are normally priced out of the reach of the volume vehicle markets.  GSF’s new HD range ensures precision with the added cost of hardened raceways, thus giving the customer a formidably strong slide at a very acceptable price.”

HD Slides - The Latest Precision Slide from GSF

With the announcement of GSF’s new Flagship range of HD slides, offering better precision, price and performance, we thought we’d introduce you to some of the most popular slides.

HD/DT-50:  This is slides compares favourably to the old RA7 at 305kg with a 25% saving on the list price.  The low height and substantial load carrying ability is due to the rugged I beam system which means a stronger intermediary beam.  GSF’s HD/DT-50 is ideal to be used for shallow drawers on fire trucks where height is restricted.  The DT line of i beams are available in a range of different lengths including:  40,50,70, 90, 110 and 150mm therefore suiting a whole range of applications, whilst offering a 2000kg load bearing capacity.  The DT range also makes a bi directional 100% two-way drawer access possible.

HD/ST-100:  with a length of 550mm and an extension of 550mm the new HD/ST-100 has a load capacity of 350kg, with an astonishing low slide width of only 20mm.  This slide again compares very well to the RA7 on price and loading, but additionally replaces the RA5 by offering almost 3 x the load capacity.  Other benefits of the HD/ST line offers defence contractors and builders an even smaller 17mm profile with a capacity of 230kg at the same length, providing more draw space, whilst reducing weight on the vehicle.

HD/QS-70:  Until now 4 beam slides have been a luxury.  GSF’s new HD/QS-70 undercuts the old E1904 by offering over 150% more extension at 50% less cost.  At 550mm this new slide adds a further 40kg in load capacity, whilst decreasing the space envelope.  This product can also be used with a reduced 100% extension to increase the load without using additional products.
