America Welcomes GSF Slides

Building business relationships in the US is loaded with difficulty, but for businesses with the right products and the grit to overcome logistical hurdles the benefits can be enormous. KME Fire Apparatus are probably one of the largest manufacturers of fire equipment in America; to win a contract of this kind comes after long hours, endless meetings and hard work for the GSF team, but in the end it paid off.

Andrew Yenser, Rescue Product Manager for KME Fire Apparatus explains: “Prior to offering GSF products on our apparatus an evaluation committee at KME thoroughly reviewed the materials mechanics, serviceability and availability of the slides. Approving new products by committee allows KME to ensure components meet both our safety and quality requirements.”

It was decided that KME would begin installing GSF slides on their Rescue vehicles, with the intention of rolling the slides across KME’s other products, including pumpers tankers, aerials and airport crash rescue vehicles. “It was the strength and quality of the GSF slides that caught our attention; both are qualities to which we build our apparatus.”

In addition the ease by which GSF slides are installed and maintained was also a key buying decision: “One of the key benefits for us,” says Andrew, “is that the installation of GSF Slides has been easy to integrate into our production; maintenance of the slides is also incredibly easy and after speaking with our customers it was felt that GSF Slides were the best option for the range vehicles we manufacturer.”

Alec Don, International Sales Director at GSF Slides concludes: “We’re delighted KME Fire Apparatus has decided to adopt our slides across their entire range and we’re excited about the opportunities we believe the American market has for GSF Slides.”

Indeed, if you’re at the FDIC in Indianapolis between 23rd – 25th April 2009, you can visit the GSF stand at booth no. 8052 and see how GSF slides can be incorporated across a wide variety of applications, including defence, electronic sectors, fire and rescue and retrofit markets.

GSF Product Review

This month we’ve decided to shed light on one of GSF slides most popular products, the RA7 slide, which are used across a number of different applications.

The RA7 Slide
Extreme Strength means less length with GSF’s Slides RA7. Produced from cold drawn steel sections and caged carbon steel ball bearings, this is our most successful telescopic slide to date. Used across numerous applications including the defence, the blue light and Fire and Rescue vehicles, not to mention the retro-fit market, this slide has an extension length of 315-2315mm and a load capacity of 340-25kg a pair, making it a highly versatile piece of equipment.

Length and load capacity are just two of it’s unique attributes, but time and time again the RA7 has been favoured for its easy installation and maintenance. This slide is used for mounting and delivering heavy kit to the point of emergency, minimising personnel’s’ exposure to health and safety risks. Used alongside the slide and tilt draws, this product can add versatility and quick release access in emergency situations. For more information please click here
